Phish – 08.17.97 – Down With Disease – Part I
The Great Went (Day Two), Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, ME
- “Down With Disease” opened the second set and led into “Bathtub Gin”. During this set, each band member took time during different jams to create a piece of artwork which was later added to the audience art tower.
Fishman’s painting can be seen during the first few minutes of the “Bathtub Gin” video. A few cameramen can be seen moving about the stage thruout – an official DVD? – someday maybe. . . . .
Here is the description from phish.net:
**The band members take turns painting large designs at the side of the stage. Then, the crowd “carries” the pieces of this design to the side of the venue where it is assembled and hoisted for everyone to see onto a tower. This wood tower is tall and covered in painted plywood and has been built during the two shows. During “Tweezer Reprise”, the entire art tower was burned to the ground.
